2、uthenticmaterials.TheWeboffersexcitingopportunitiesbyemployinghyper-texts,audio,andevenvideo-clipsintolanguagecourses.Theinteractivityofwebsitesalsomakesthelanguagetestingattractive,efficientandeffective.Languagelearnerscandolanguageexercisesandtestsonline,playlanguagegamestotestandusethel
3、anguage,andmuchmore.Thecomputermediatedcommunication(CMC)makestheinteractionbetweenteachersandstudentssynchronousbytheonlinecollaborativeenvironment.Followingthistrends,thisprojectjusttouchesoneaspectofonlineresources,namely,theresourcesforself-assessmentinlanguagetesting.1.1TerminologyRel
4、atedtoSelf-assessmentTheliteralmeaningofself-assessmentisanassessmentdonebysomeonethemselves.Tobemorespecific,itistheprocessthatthelearnersthemselvesevaluatetheirownperformance,usingclearcriteriaandweightingsystemsagreedonbeforehand(Ur,P.,2000:245).However,therearestillsomecharacteristicsn
5、eedtobeclarifiedaccordingtotheliteratureresourcesonthistopic.13Self-assessmentisalsoknownasself-evaluation,self-rating,self-testingandself-appraisal(Davies,etal.2002:177).Itisanapproachtoassessmentwhichinvolveslearnerinmakingjudgementsabouttheirownleveland/orprogress.Moralreasons(e.g.thesh
6、aringofpowerbetweenteacherandlearner)aswellasmotivationalones(e.g.theexcitementofself-discovery)areoftenusedtojustifyself-assessmentpracticesagainsttheaccusationoflackofreliability[whichthisreportwilldealwithinPartThree].Itseemsthattherearelittledifferencesamongstself-assessment,self-evalu
7、ation,andself-rating.Instead,therearesomedistinctionsaccordingtootherprofessionalsasfollows(Richards,Schmidt,Kendrick&Kim,2005:611~612).Self-evaluation(alsoself-assessment)checkingone’sownperformanceonalanguagelearningtaskafterithasbeencompletedorcheckingone’s
