3、senders,butlaidasideforthetimeabulkypacketaddressedinastrangehandwriting.Ateaseinanarmchair,hedrankhismorningtea,finishedthenewspaper,andreadafewcirculars.Then,havinglightedacigar,heturnedto(1922)theremainingletter.Itwasamanuscriptratherthananordinaryletter,comprising
4、acoupleofdozenhastilypennedsheetsinafemininehandwriting.Involuntarilyheexaminedtheenvelopeoncemore,incasehemighthaveoverlookedacoveringStephanZweigletter.Buttherewasnothingofthekind,nosignature,andnosender’saddressoneitherenvelopeorcontents.“Strange,”hethought,ashebeg
