3、me564hectaresfeaturingwell-manicuredgardensandover110architecturalstructuressurroundedbya10-km-longouterwallthatrisesandfallswiththesurroundinghills.TheImperialSummerVillacanbedividedintotwosections:apalacesectionandagardensection.PalaceSectionThepalacesectioniswh
4、ereQingemperorswoulddisposeofstateaffairsandliveduringtheirstaysattheImperialSummerVilla.AplaqueinscribedwithfourcharactersbyEmperorKangxihangsabovethevermilionfrontgate.BiShuShanZhuangitreads,or“MountainVillatoFleetheSummerHeat”.Walkingthroughthegateway,Danboming
5、chengcomesintoview,orthe“HallofSimplicityandReverence”.ThenamecomesfromanancientChinesesayingroughlytranslatedas,“Onlyasimplelifestylecanhelponerealizehistruelife-goal.”AlsoknownasNanmuHall,becauseitwasbuiltwithnanny,afragrant,fine-grainedhardwooduniquetoChina,the
6、hallwasusedbytheemperortocarryoutofficialstatebusiness.BehindDanbomingcheng,standsYanbozhishuangHall,or“CoolonaMistyLake”Hall,whichwasusedastheemperor’slivingquarters.Today,mostofthehallhasbecomeamuseumwithQingrelicsandartworkonexhibit.Visitorsarerewardedwithaglim
7、pseintothelifestyleofQingroyalty.OtherfamoushallsinthepalacesectionincludeWanhesongfeng,whichstandsbythelakeside,encircledbypinetrees,andwasusedasanimperialstudy,andSonghezhai,whichhousedtheemperor’smotheraswellashisconcubines.GardenSectionThegardensectioncanbefur
