3、yoftheaccelerationoftheuniversehaschangedthewaywearethinkingabouttheproblemofthevacuumenergy:Insteadoftryingtoexplainwhyitiszero,wearetryingtounderstandwhyitisanomalouslysmall.Recentcosmologicalobservationshaveshownthattheuniverseis?at,oralmostexactly?at,andcon?rmedmanyotherpredictionsofin?
4、ationarytheory.Manynewversionsofthistheoryhavebeendeveloped,includinghybridin?ationandin?ationarymodelsbasedonstringtheory.Therewasasubstantialprogressinthetheoryofreheatingoftheuniverseafterin?ation,andinthetheoryofeternalin?ation.Itsclear,therefore,thatsomepartsofthebookshouldbeupdated,wh
