3、nbetweenonlineandof?ineiseffortbeforeusingacrowdisfeasible.Wearguethatthisover-thatonceaworkerishiredoffanof?ine,traditionalmarket,theyheadcouldbesubstantiallyreducedviastandardization.Inthearenotallocatedtotasksviaaspotmarket.Workerswithin?rmssamewaythattaskstandard
4、izationenabledthemassproduc-areemployeeswhohavebeenscreened,trainedfortheirjobstionofphysicalgoods,standardizationofbasic“buildingblock”andarehaveincentivesforgoodperformance—ataminimum,taskswouldmakecrowdsourcingmorescalable.Standardiza-poorperformancecancausethemto
5、losetheirjobs.Furthermore,tionwouldmakeiteasiertosetprices,spreadbestpractices,formanyjobs—particularlythosefocusingontheproductionofbuildmeaningfulreputationsystemsandtrackquality.Allofthisphysicalgoods—goodperformanceisverywellde?ned,inthatwouldincreasethedemandfor
6、paidcrowdsourcing—adevelop-workersmustadheretoastandardsetofinstructions.Thisstan-mentweargueispositiveonbothef?ciencyandwelfaregrounds.dardizationoftasksistheessentialfeatureofmodernproductionStandardizationwouldalsoallowmorecomplexprocessestobeandhowitcanbeappliedt
