1、DifferencesBetweenStaticContextandDynamicContextWiththedevelopmentofcontextualresearch,peoplerealizethatcontextisnotastatic,fixedconcept,butadynamicconceptofcognitivedevelopment,andthatcontexthascloserelationshipwithverbalcommunicationandplaysavitalroleinit.Thedevelopmento
2、fContextualresearchhasdeepenedpeople'scognitionoftheessenceofcontext,havingenlighteningandguidingsignificanceforFirth,founderoftheLondonSchool,onceputforwardtheviewofstaticcontext,maintainingthatcontextisthepremiseofcommunication.Themainfeaturesofstaticcontextareasfollows:
3、1)Contextualfactorsareagroupofindividualsexistingpriortocommunicationprocess;2)Contexthastwomajorfunctions:paraphrasingandrestriction;3)Contextignoresthesubjectiveinitiativeofcommunicationsubjects.Fromthesefeatures,wecanconcludethattraditionalcontextualresearchputsthecommu
4、nicatingspeakersinapassiveposition,inotherwords,contextexistspriortocommunicationprocessandcommunicationiscontrolledbycontext.Butwiththedevelopmentofcontextualresearch,peoplebegintorealizethattheviewofstaticcontextisquitepartialandunrealistic.Asweallknow,theprocessofverbal
5、communicationisnotstationaryandstatic,sotraditionalstaticcontextdoesnotadaptto3dynamicprocessofverbalcommunication.In1986,DanSperberandDeidreWilsonintheirbookRelevance:CommunicationandCognition,putforwardtheRelevanceTheory,thetwomajorpointsofwhichareostensive-inferencemode
6、landdynamiccontext.Dynamiccontextisanewchallengeandreconsideringofthetraditionalstaticcontext.Indynamiccontext,SperberandWilsonpointoutthatcontextistheresultofspeakers'communicationbasedontheircommoncognitionandthatverbalcommunicationisactuallyaprocessofcognitionparticipat
