1、StudyontheEffectsofMistakeCorrectioninEnglishTeaching 【Abstract】Thispaperreportsonastudywhichinvestigatedtheeffectsofcorrectionofstudents’grammaticalmistakesonacquisition.Specifically,itcomparedtheeffectsofwhentocorrect,immediatevs.delayedcorrection,andhowtocorrect,explicitvs.implicitcorrection.It
2、alsoinvestigatedtherelativeeffectsofcorrectionofmorphologicalvs.syntacticfeaturesandcorrectionofdevelopmentalearlyvs.developmentallatefeatures.Dataforthestudywerecollectedfrom50intermediatelevelstudentsofEnglishasaforeignlanguageinDalianUniversityofFinanceandEconomy.Eachparticipantwasrequiredtoread
3、andthenretellawrittentextintheirownwordsduringanoralinterviewwiththeresearcher.Duringorfollowingtheinterview,theresearchercorrectedtheparticipants’grammaticalmistakesimplicitlyorexplicitly.Individualizedtestsfocusingonthemistakesthathadbeencorrectedwereconstructedforeachparticipantandadministered.S

5、theerroranalysishypothesis,students’productionoferroneousstructurescanassistusinunderstandingtheircognitiveprocesses.Morespecifically,mistakesareevidenceoftheprocessesandstrategiesoflanguageacquisition.Learnersareassumedtocreatealanguagesystemknownasinter-language,inwhichlearnersthemselvesimposestr
6、uctureontheavailablelinguisticdata,drawingupontheirknowledgeofthemothertongueandofthesecondforeignlanguage.Inter-languagereferstoindependentsystematicknowledgeofasecondlanguagenativelanguagechildrenaswellassecondlanguagelearnersholdintheprocessoflearning.Learnersformulateaninternalizedsystemwhichen
