3、derallawenforcementapplicationsincludeprovidingperimetersecurityfortroops,monitoringpeacetreatiesorrefugeemovementsfromunmannedairvehicles,providingsecurityforembassiesorairports,andstakingoutsuspecteddrugorterroristhide-outsbycollectingtime-stampedpicturesofeveryoneenteringandexitin
4、gthebuilding.Automatedvideosurveillanceisanimportantresearchareainthecommercialsectoraswell.Technologyhasreachedastagewheremountingcamerastocapturevideoimageryischeap,butfindingavailablehumanresourcestositandwatchthatimageryisexpensive.Surveillancecamerasarealreadyprevalentincommerci
5、alestablishments,withcameraoutputbeingrecordedtotapesthatareeitherrewrittenperiodicallyorstoredinvideoarchives.Afteracrimeoccurs–astoreisrobbedoracarisstolen–investigatorscangobackafterthefacttoseewhathappened,butofcoursebythenitistoolate.Whatisneedediscontinuous24-hourmonitoringanda
6、nalysisofvideosurveillancedatatoalertsecurityofficerstoaburglaryinprogress,ortoasuspiciousindividualloiteringintheparkinglot,whileoptionsarestillopenforavoidingthecrime.Keepingtrackofpeople,vehicles,andtheirinteractionsinanurbanorbattlefieldenvironmentisadifficulttask.TheroleofVSAMvi
