3、ion(OSHA)Standard29CFR1910.1450,“OccupationalExposuretoHazardousChemicalsinLaboratories”tomanagetherisksassociatedwithlaboratoryworkthroughthedevelopmentandimplementationofaLaboratorySafetyPlan(LSP).2.ThisChapterestablishesrequirementsforthedevelopmentofaLSP,whichwillincorporateallapplicable
4、operationalsubjectchaptersinthisManual.3.“Laboratory”,forthepurposesofthisChapter,isdefinedasanySIworkplacefortesting,analysis,research,instruction,orsimilaractivitiesthatinvolvetheuseofsmallquantitiesofmultiple,hazardouschemicalsonanon-productionbasis,wheresuchchemicalprocessesoperateonasca
5、lethatcaneasilyandsafelybedonebyoneperson,andwheretheaddedpossibilityofbiohazardsandradioactivehazardsalsoexists.B.CHAPTER-SPECIFICROLESANDRESPONSIBILITIES1.DirectorsshalldesignateaLaboratorySafetyOfficer(LSO)tomanagethedevelopmentandimplementationofthefacility’ssite-specificLSPs,andtoensure
6、thatdesignandmodificationplansforlaboratoryspacearetransmittedforreviewthroughtheSD410process.2.LaboratorySafetyOfficersshall:a.Beknowledgeable,byformaltrainingandpracticalexperience,inchemicalorbiologicallaboratoryprotocolsandtheassociatedsciences.b.Providetechnicalguidanceindevelopingandre
7、viewingthefacilityLSPs,includingsuitabilityofphysicallocation,andshallsubmitthefinalLSPstotheSafetyCoordinatorforfinalapproval.c.EnsurethatthefacilityLSPsarere-evaluatedandapprovedannually,ormoreoftenasprocesseschangeorintheeventofachangeinLSOappoi
