7、歷史學(xué)家,無神論或者不可知論者,也是上世紀(jì)西方最著名、影響最大的學(xué)者和和平主義社會活動家之一,羅素也被認(rèn)為是與弗雷格、維特根斯坦和懷特海一同創(chuàng)建了分析哲學(xué)。他與懷特海合著的《數(shù)學(xué)原理》對邏輯學(xué)、數(shù)學(xué)、集合論、語言學(xué)和分析哲學(xué)有著巨大影響。1950年,羅素獲得諾貝爾文學(xué)獎,以表彰其“多樣且重要的作品,持續(xù)不斷的追求人道主義理想和思想自由”。?師徒軼事羅素活到90多歲還有清楚的頭腦和不老的熱情。有個故事說,羅素在70多歲時說他的已經(jīng)80多歲的老師懷特海“真是老糊涂了”,而懷特海反過來說羅素“還是不成熟”。順便說說羅素的老師懷特海,
8、他也是個天才,非常年輕就成了劍橋的教授。由于他是天才,所以很快就看出羅素也是天才,羅素在劍橋上大學(xué)時,懷特海來上課,對羅素說:“你不用學(xué)了,你都會了”。不久后他們由師生變成合作者,共同寫作了劃時代的著作《數(shù)學(xué)原理》。羅素跟數(shù)學(xué)大師哈代說他做了個夢,夢見200年后劍橋大學(xué)圖書館
