2、”[2].Inhind-Thisarticleoriginatesfromapanelwiththesight,ofcourse,codingwasnotdead,andanum-abovetitle,heldatIEEEVTCSpring2009,inberofbreakthroughswerestilltocome.whichtheauthorstookpart.TheenthusiasticTheaimofthisarticleistodiagnosethecon-responseitreceivedpromptedustodiscussfor
3、aditionofPHYresearchtoday.ThismayprovewideraudiencewhetherresearchatthephysicalusefulinfuturedecisionsrelatedtoR&Dwithinlayer(PHY)isstillrelevanttothefieldofwire-thePHYandhopefullypositivelyinfluencepoli-lesscommunications.Usingcellularsystemsascymakersdecidingoninternationalan
4、dnationaltheaxisofourexposition,weexemplifyareasprojectgrants,companies’researchdirections,wherePHYresearchhasindeedhitaperfor-amongothers.mancewallandwhereanyimprovementsareToframethediscussion,itishealthytopro-expectedtobemarginal.WethendiscusswhethervideadefinitionofthePHYto
5、ensureacom-theresearchdirectionstakeninthepasthavemonunderstanding.Havingitsoriginsinwirelinealwaysbeentherightchoiceandhowlessonssystems,theOpenSystemsInterconnectionlearnedcouldinfluencefuturepolicydecisions.(OSI)modelformallyattributestothePHYtheSeveraloftheraisedissuesaresu
6、bsequentlydis-transmissionofbitsoveradedicatedlinkwithcussedingreaterdetails,e.g.,thegrowingdiver-theaidofbasebandandradiofrequency(RF)gencebetweenacademiaandindustry.Withthisprocessingatthetransmittingandreceivingargumentationathand,weidentifyareasthatareends.Inwirelesssystems
