4、ndationhassupportedhisworkforthelast40years.Arecentcheckindicated9booksand132publishedarticles,andtherearefewsignsofanyslowdown.Inthisinterview,whichtookplaceinhisMITof?ceonemorningduringthe2006NBERSummerInstitute,wetriedtolearnhowPeterbecameaneconomist,whohi
5、sin?uenceswere,andwhathethinksaboutsomeofthebigissuesineconomics.Wealsotalkedabouthowhestartedworkingonseveralofhisprojects,andalsohowandwhyhesometimesstopped.Interestingly,asweallknow,Peterisnotonlyoneoftheleadingeconomictheoristsofhisgeneration,healsotakesp
