5、ernativemotordriveforhighperformanceapplications.Inordertohaveanefficientmotordrive,performingofthreestepsindesignoftheoveralldriveisnotavoidable.Thesestepsaredesignoptimizationofthemotor,identificationofthemotorparameterandimplementationofanadvancedcontrolsystemtoensureopti

6、mumoperation.Therefore,thisdissertationfirstdealswiththedesignoptimizationofthePermanentMagnetAssistedSynchronousReluctanceMotor(PMa-SynRM).VariouskeypointsintherotordesignofalowcostPMa-SynRMareintroducedandtheireffectsarestudied.Finiteelementapproachhasbeenutilizedtoshowthe

7、effectsoftheseparametersonthedevelopedaverageelectromagnetictorqueandthetotald-qinductances.Asitcanbeinferredfromthenameofthemotor,therearesomepermanentmagnetsmountedintherotorcore.Oneofthefeaturesconsideredinthedesignofthismotoristhemagnetizationofthepermanentmagnetsmounted
