3、thisworkincludesexpertsinallareasofwindturbinebladedesign,analysis,manufacture,andtesting.Constraintstocost-effectivescaling-upofthecurrentcommercialbladedesignsandmanufacturingmethodsareidentified,includingself-gravityloads,transportation,andenvironment
4、alconsiderations.Atrade-offstudyisperformedtoevaluatetheincrementalchangesinbladecost,weight,andstiffnessforawiderangeofcompositematerials,fabrictypes,andmanufacturingprocesses.Fiberglass/carbonfiberhybridbladesareidentifiedashavingapromisingcombinationo
5、fcost,weight,stiffnessandfatigueresistance.Vacuum-assistedresintransfermolding,resinfilminfusion,andpre-impregnatedmaterialsareidentifiedashavingbenefitsinreducedvolatileemissions,higherfibercontent,andimprovedlaminatequalityrelativetothebaselinewetlay-u
6、pprocess.Alternativestructuraldesignsareidentified,includingjointedconfigurationstofacilitatetransportation.Basedontheresultstodate,recommendationsaremadeforfurtherevaluationandtestingunderthisstudytoverifythepredictedmaterialandstructuralperformance.Ack
