3、resentwork,aTunisiansmectitemodifiedwithtwocationicsurfactantswasusedasanadsorbenttoexaminetheadsorptionkinetics,isothermsandthermodynamicparametersoffluorideionsfromaqueoussolution.VariouspHvalues,initialconcentrationsandtemperatureshavebeentested.Twosimplifiedkineticmode
4、ls,first-orderandpseudo-second-order,wereusedtopredicttheadsorptionrateconstants.Itwasfoundthattheadsorptionkineticsoffluorideontomodifiedsmectitesatdifferentoperatingconditionscanbestbedescribedbythepseudo-second-ordermodel.Adsorptionisothermsandequilibriumadsorptioncapac
5、itiesweredeterminedbythefittingoftheexperimentaldatatowellknownisothermmodelsincludingthoseofLangmuirandFreundlich.TheresultsshowedthattheLangmuirmodelappearstofittheadsorptionbetterthantheFreundlichadsorptionmodelfortheadsorptionoffluorideionsontomodifiedsmectites.Theequi
6、libriumconstantswereusedtocalculatethermodynamicparameters,suchasthechangeoffreeenergy,enthalpyandentropy.Resultsofthisstudydemonstratedtheeffectivenessandfeasibilityoforganoclaysfortheremovaloffluorideionsfromaqueoussolution.KEYWORDS:organoclays,fluorideions,sorption,Lang
