3、npathway,hasrecentlybeendescribed(1,2).Controloftheseenzymaticcascades,essentialtopreventrapidconsumptionofCinvivo,isprovidedby10ormoreplasmaandmem-brane-boundinhibitoryproteinsactingatmultiplestagesofthesystem.Cplaysacentralroleininnateimmunedefense,whichprovidesasystemfortherapiddestructionofawide
