2、ntfixationagainstawidesetofviralantigens,includingcoronavirusOC43.AsignificantchangeinOC43antibodieswasrecordedin33casesandaconstanthightitre,definedasatitreoccurringintherespectiveagegroupinlessthan1%ofallseraexamined,wasfoundin45cases.Onthebasisofcarefulretrospectiveanalysisofhospitalcaserecords
3、itwasconcludedthatin28caseswithanin-creaseofOC43antibodytitres,andintwowithtitredecrease,adiseasecouldbeassociatedwithanacutecoronavirusinfection.In16casesthediseasewasdominatedbyrespiratorysymptoms.Eightofthesepatients,fourchildrenandfouradults,hadpneumonia.Threeoftheeightpneumoniapatientshad,how
4、ever,anotherConcomitantinfection,too.Fourpatientshadneurologicalsymptoms,onehadsevereperimyocarditis,andinfivecasesfeverwastheonlysymptomrecorded.AmongthepatientswithastatisticallysignificanthightitreofOC43antibodies,therewere14caseswhereasuggestiveassocia-tionwithadiseasecouldbeenvisagedonthebasi
