2、olatedfromaswinebreedingstockherdinIndiana.Theviruswasreadilyisolatedfromnasalswabsofpigsofdifferentagesandinducedcytopathologyonprimaryporcinekidneycellsandonaswinetesticular(ST)cellline.An8-week-oldpiginfectedoral/nasallywiththerespiratoryvariantandacontactpigshowednosignsofrespiratoryorenteri
3、cdisease.Thesepigsdidnotshedvirusinfecesbutdidshedtheagentfromtheupperrespiratorytractforapproximately2weeks.Babypigsfrom2separatelitters(2and3daysold)alsoshowednoclinicalsignsfollowingoral/nasalinoculationwithPRCV-Ind/89.Inathirdlitter,5of7piglets(5daysold)infectedeitheroral/nasallyorbystomacht
4、ubedevelopedatransientmilddiarrheawithvillousatrophy.However,viruswasnotisolatedfromrectalswabsorilealhomogenatesofthesepiglets,andviralantigenwasnotdetectedintheileumbyfluorescentantibodystainingeventhoughtheviruswaseasilyrecoveredfromnasalswabsandlungtissuehomogenates.Swineantiseraproducedagai
5、nstPRCV-Ind/89orentericTGEVcross-neutralizedeithervirus.Inaddition,ananti-peplomermonoclonalantibody,4F6,thatneutralizesTGEValsoneutralizedthePRCV-Ind/89isolate.RadioimmunoassayswithapanelofmonoclonalantibodiesindicatedthattheIndianarespiratoryvariantandtheEuropeanPRCVareantigenicallysimilar.Apo
6、rcinerespiratorycoronavirus(PRCV)hasre-theEuropeanPRCVgrowseasilyintheporcinecon-centlybeenidentifiedasenzooticinmost,ifnotall,tinuouscelllinesSTandPD5withoutextensivead-13countriesofwesternEuropeandinEastGer-aptation.BothTGEVandPRCVarefullyneutralized1,8,9,14,15,21many.Thisnewcoronavirusofpigsw
