4、taboosofthehead-huntingcus-tomsoftheTaiwaneseIndigenousPeoplesduringearlytimes.Throughsuchanalysis,weaimtoexploretherelationsbetweentheimplicitspiritualhealingfactorsofthehead-huntingcustomsandspirituallife,ethnicconceptsandsocialsystemsoftheTaiwaneseInd
5、igenousPeoples(theAtayaltribe,specifically).Duringtheresearchprocess,werealizethatthespiritualbeliefsoftheTaiwaneseIndigenousPeoplesbringaboutpersonalvirtues,standardsforinterpersonalbehavior,andtheethicalcriterionforfamilyandsociallife.Amongthehead-hunt
6、ingcustoms,theonesin-heritedbytheAtayalmennotonlyrepresentthegaga(normsandprecepts)oftheirancestors,butarealsoadisplayofpersonalcourage,ability,andhonor.Moreover,theAtayalpeoplearere-mindedoftheirrolesintheircommunitiesthroughrepeatedhead-huntingcustomsa
7、ndceremo-nies.Throughpracticingtheirmoralstandardsandfulfillingresponsibility,theyareabletomain-tain,convert,orreformfamilyorder.Theyrelyonancestralordealandblessingtoavoidunfortu-nateincidents,confusionorstagnationindevelopment.FortheAtayalpeople,thehea
