3、advocatedwithinthefieldoforganizationalresearchthatfocusesonnetworks.Weprovideabriefintroductionintothefieldofsocialnetworksandpresentanoverviewofexistingnetworkmodelsandmethods.Subsequentlyweintroduceanelementaryproblemfieldinthesocialsciencesingeneral,andinstudie
4、soforganizationalchangeanddesigninparticular:themicro-macrolink.Wearguethatthemostappro-priatewaytohandlethisproblemistheprincipleofmethodologicalindividualism.Forsocialnetworkanalysis,tocontributetothistheoreticalperspective,itshouldincludeanindividualchoicemechan
5、ismandbecomemoredynamicallyoriented.Subsequently,objectorientedmodelingisadvocatedasatooltomeettheserequirementsforsocialnetworkanalysis.Weshowthatcharacteristicsofsocialsystemsthatareemphasizedinthemethodologicalindividualisticapproachhavetheirdirectequivalencesin
