2、tanttounderstandtheunderlyingphysicalphenomenaatthesteel/slaginterfaceinacontinuouscastingtundishinordertocontrolreoxidationanddeoxidationphenomenathatcanoccur.Aimingtoinvestigateprobablesourcesofexogenousinclusionsoriginatingfromthecoveringslag,anexistingmathematicalmodelofthetundishwasaug
3、mentedtoincludekeyphysicalparametersneededforthepredictionofthephysicalbehaviourofsteel/slagmixingphenomena.Resultsshowedarecirculationflowintheinletregiontoberesponsibleforboththeentrainmentofsteeldropsintotheslagandslagfragmentsintothesteel.Thehighestconcentrationofslaginthesteelwasfoundt
4、obeintheareabehindtheinletwhereslagfragmentsizesaresmallerduetoahighdegreeofturbulentenergydissipation.Likewise,higherconcentrationsofsteelintheslag,consistingofsmallersteeldroplets,wereonlyfoundintheinletregionandalongthewalls.Theresultsindicatethatonlysmallslagfragmentsofapproximately10-5
