4、atureon1theemotions,philosophyandpsychology,aswellasotherdomains.Havingmoreorlessneglectedthetopicthroughoutitsbriefhistory,onlyinthe1970sand1980sdidanalyticphilosophybegintogiveseriousconsiderationtotheemotions.Twokeydevelopmentsarenoteworthy.First,againstthescepticismbe?ttingtra
5、ditionalviewsofemotionsaspassive,disruptive,andirrationalstates,RobertSolomon(1976)launchedtheviewthattheyareinfactcognitivestates,speci?callyjudgmentsofvalue.Theattributionofacognitive,rationalcharactertoemotions,andonethattiesthemtoevaluativejudgementshasbeenhighlyin?uentialandh
