3、erson.Itreferstothatemotionalandsocialsenseofselfthateveryonehasandexpectseveryoneelsetorecognize”(2000:60).Somescholarsdividetheconceptof“face”intotwoaspects:the“positiveface”andthe“negativeface”,andputforwardthe“face-savingtheory”.The“positiveface”meansthen
4、eedofbeingacceptedandapprovedbythecollective.The“negativeface”meanstheneedoffreedom,independenceandnotbebotheredbyotherpeople.Whenone’sbehaviorthreatsthe“face”oftheotherperson,theoffendershouldtaketheface-savingactiontomaketheremedy.Therefore,savingthe“face”o
