3、albooks,andotherresearchsources.Thefindingsofthispaperconcludethattherearesufficientresourcestoensurenetworksecurity,butmanyoftheavailablesecuritymethodsarenotutilized.InternetSecurity14InternetSecurityThereisalargeamountofmaterialpublishedrelatingtonetworksecurity.AnInternetsourcebibliographyo
4、fnetworkrelatedarticlescontainingover70,000referenceitemsgeneratedover5000referenceswhenthesearchtopic“security”wastypedintotheBibTeXquerybox.ThegoalofthispaperistotakeasmallsamplingofthevastinformationavailableonnetworksecurityandpresentasummaryofInternetsecuritysystemsandprocedures.Thebackgro
5、undofthefieldwillbepresentedbutthescopeofthispaperdoesnotallowforanexhaustivediscussion.E-networksecuritymethodswillbeintroducedandIwillattempttoprovideinformationsufficientforanetworkprofessionaltounderstandthebasicprincipleofInternetsecuritysystems.TheInternetThehumbleoriginsoftheInternetbyth
6、edepartmentofdefensein1971,thencalledARAPANET,hasmushroomedintothevastWorldWideWeb(WWW)weexperiencetoday.Thiscommunicationhighwaywasintendedfortechnicalcommunicationsbetweenthemilitaryandaselectnumberofresearchersandcontractors.Theopennatureofcommunicationsbetweenthemilitaryandtheirsupplierandr
7、esearchesresultedinaveryopencommunicationsystem.Gradually,thenetworkcommunityispatchingsomeofthesesecurityholes.TheInternetstartedwithonlyfourusesinitially,butnowitisestimatedthatthenumberofusersonthewebincreases15percenteachmonth
