5、ation,andmodernsocialproblemsofAmericansociety.Studentswillhaveaweeklyreadingassignmentandareexpectedtocometoclassreadytodiscussthecontentofthereadings.Thelectureswillclarifyandexpanduponthereadingmaterial,andstudentsareexpectedtotakecarefulnotesduringeachlecture.Inaddition,selectedfilmsrelating
6、tovariousreadingassignmentswillhelptoillustraterelevanttopicsandconceptsconcerningcontemporaryAmericanlife.Studentsareresponsibleforviewingthefilms,aswellasrelatingthethemestoclasscontent.Associetycannotbedefinedwithoutmentioning―people,greatattentionwillbepaidtothemostcommonaspectsoflifeinAmeri
7、ca.Althoughsuchtopicsasgeographyandhistoryareimportanttotheshapingofanysociety,themosttimewillbespentdiscussingthesocietyasitexiststoday,howcitizensexistwithinthesociety,andhowtheyrelatetotherestoftheworld.CourseObjectives:A
