1、AStudyOnEnglishVocabularyLearningStrategiesfortheStudentsinHighVocationalCollegeABSTRACT:ThisessayisabouttheEnglishvocabularystrategyuseofasamplingoffourclassesofstudentsinKunmingVocationalandTechnicalCollegeofIndustry.Thisstudyisbasedon40ofthe200freshmen.These40stud
2、entsaremadeupoftwogroups.BasedonfirstsemesterEnglishfinalexaminationscores,thefirstgroupiscalledtopstudents(thestudentswiththetop20scores),whiletheothergroupiscalledthepoorstudentsthestudentswiththelowest20scores.Theaimoftheresearchistofindoutwhatkindofvocabularystra
3、tegiesthesubjectsfrequentlyuseintheirEnglishvocabularylearningandwhetherthestrategieshaveamutualrelationwiththeirEnglishgrades.Thedataconcerningvocabularystrategieswascollectedusingaquestionnaire.Thequestionnaireshowedthatthetwogroupsofstudents’Englishgradesdohaverel
4、ationwithhowtouselearningvocabularystrategies.The20topstudentsfrequentlyusedmemoryandcognitivestrategies,especiallytakingnotesinclass.However,the20poorstudentsrarelyuseanyvocabularystrategies.Topstudentsusestrategiesmorefrequentlythanthepoorstudentsdo.Thetopstudentsa
5、reverydifferentfromthepoorstudentsintheirdifferentlearningconcept.TheformeronesdesiretolearnEnglishactively,whichshowsthenewlearningconcept,“Iwanttostudy.”Thelatteronesstudyreluctantlyandpassively,whichrevealstheoldlearningconcept“Otherswantmetostudy”Fromtheresearch,
6、therearesomepedagogicalvocabularyteachingimplications.Teachersneedtoteachstudentsstrategiesforstudyingvocabulary.Theyneedtohelpthemincreaseawarenessofvocabularystrategies.Theteachershavetogiveahandtothosepoorstudents.Allofthestudentsmusttakenotesinclass.Theteachersho
