1、AVirtualLearningGuide:TechnologiesandLearningPaperAbstract:In1998,developmentalworkandresearchbeganonprovisionofweb-basedvirtuallearningmaterialsatSwinburneUniversityofTechnology,Lilydale.Twoevents(first-thedecisiontoprovideprintedlearningguides,andsecond-thearrivaloftheI
2、nformationTechnology,SystemsandMultimediaDisciplineLeader)actedascatalyticagentsfordevelopmentofthesevirtuallearningmaterialsandconsequent,actionresearchforthecaseunderstudy.Thevirtuallearningmaterialsresearchprojectrequiredgroundinginatleastoneoftheinstructionaltheories.
3、Theresearchtodateindicatesthatitisimportanttobeascomprehensiveaspossibleintermsofinstructionalstrategies,inparticulargainingthelearner’sattention,presentingofobjectivesandstimulatingrecallofknowledgebothlearnedandpreviouslyacquired.Petryetal(Petry,MoutonandREigeluth,1987)
4、hasinpartprovidedasynopsisofselectedtheoriesandmodelsofinstructionaltheorythataredrawnuponatthistime.However,instructionalstrategiesonlyformonefacetoftheformativequestions.Thesecondislearnermotivation.Here,theresearchdrawsupontheworkofKelleretalwhohasexplicitlyaddressedth
5、euseofmotivationalstrategies,(cfKellerandKopp,1987;).Thispaperisconstitutedasaseriesofquestionsemanatingfromareflectiveactionresearchapproachtotheoperationof,orsocialisationof,individualsandgroupsactingasagentswithinanAustralianregionaluniversitycampussetting.Thecampusset
