3、rningprocessandresults.Sincethereformandopeningup,ourEnglisheducationalscalecontinuestoexpandandhasmaderemarkableachievements.However,thestatusofEnglisheducationstillcannotmeettheneedsofChina'seconomicconstructionandsocialdevelopment,andthereisstillagapwiththerequirementsoftheti
4、mes.Thus,thereisanurgentneedofanalyzingEnglishteachers’classroomrole.5 2.ProblemsandCausesoftheTraditionalRoleoftheEnglishTeacher TherearesomanyproblemsofthetraditionalroleofEnglishteachers.First,traditionalEnglishteachingstructureoveremphasizesteachers’leadingfunction,butnegl
5、ectsthesubjectstatusofstudents,whichleadstothelowlevelofthemotivationandinterestinEnglishlearning.Second,inordertoaccomplishteachingprogram,teachersgiveaclasstoofast(Cohen1998).Throughthis,fewstudentscanspeakEnglishattheclass.Therefore,students’willlosemanychancestoopentheirmout
6、handspeakEnglish.Third,intraditionalEnglishteaching,teachers’authoritypushesstudentshardandstrainstheclassroomatmosphere.Studentsarealwaysafraidtospeakinclass,letaloneinastrainedclassroomatmosphere. Whenitcomestocausesofthelimitationofteachers’traditionalrole,manythingsappearin
