4、plexnurnmufuriuLindl.)foliage,WSplusbluewattle(AcuciucyanophyllaLindl.)foliage,andWSplusmedicpods.Alfalfaandureafeedinglevelsweresettoprovideacrudeprotein(CP)concentrationof90gkg-’DMinthediet.Shrubfoliageandmedicpodswereofferedadlibitum.AtriplexandAcaciafoliagesuppl
5、ementationresultedinthehighestandloweststrawintakeincreases,respectively.ThesefindingswouldcontributetoexplainwhyanimalsreceivingAtriplexfoliageinadditiontowheatstrawweretheonlyonestomaintainweightovera14weekperiod.Medicpodsupplementationresultedinaninsignificantwei
6、ghtloss.Theseresultsshowedthatfoliagefrompalatableshrubsandmedicpodscanbeeffectiveproteinsupplementsforlivestockconsumingwheatstraw.Implementingsuchstrategieswouldrequirethatfarmersplantoldmansaltbush(AtriplexnummuluriuLindl.)shrubsontheirprivatelandandmanagemedicpa
