1、BAThesisofYuLinNormalUniversity1.IntroductionWiththerapiddevelopmentofeconomicglobalizationandinformationandtechnology,Englishplaysaveryimportantroleininternationalaffairs.InJune1999,theofficialdocument“DecisionontheDeepeningofEducationReformandtheFu
2、llPromotionofQualityEducation”heraldedthereformoftheexistingcurriculumconstructionandcontent.InJune2001,theStateCouncilratifiedthe“DecisionontheReformandDevelopmentofBasicEducation”,furtherclarifyingthetaskofsettingupthenewelementaryeducationcurricul
3、um.Basedonthesetwodocuments,NewCurriculumReforminelementaryeducationhasbeenexpandedgraduallyfromtheexperimentalzonestothewholenation.Onthebasisof“ConciseOutlineoftheCurriculumReforminelementaryEducation”,theNewNationalEnglishCurriculumStandard(NECS)i
4、sformulatedbytheMinistryofEducation(MOE)inChinaforSeniorHighSchoolsEnglishteachers.Ononehand,teachersarethecoreparticipantsinthereform.OnlythequalityofteachershasbeenimprovedthegoaloftheNewCurriculumReformcanbeachieved.Ontheotherhand,theNewCurriculum
5、Reformisanewgrowthpointforteacher’sprofessionalqualityandbringsnewchallengestoalltheEnglishlanguageteachers.Englishlanguageteachers’professionalqualityisthemostessentialpartinteachers’quality.Itdirectlyaffectstrainingthetalentof21stcentury.Intheconte
6、xtoftheNewCurriculumReform,teachers’professionalqualityshouldmeettherequirementsofthereform.Sothepurposesofthethesiscanbedescribedasfollows:(1)ToenhanceanunderstandingofthestatusofSeniorHighSchoolEnglishteachersintermsoftheirconcepts,knowledge,skills
7、andattitudestoprofessionalquality.(2)Tofindoutwhatdifficultiesandproblemsexistintheirteachingorprofessionalqualityandwhattheirprofessionalneedsare.(3)ToexploresomeeffectiveapproachesofacceleratingEnglishlanguageteachers’professionalqualitysothattheyc
