3、d-comer.Inthe1600s,theSpanishextendedtheirpoliticalinfluencearoundtheworld;the1700swasthecenturyofDutchimperialism;theBritishweredominantinthe1800s.TheUnitedStatesbecamethepreeminentworldpowerinthe1900s–atitlewhichitretainstothisday,albeittenuously.Basedonthecyclicalnatureofsuchtran

4、sitionsandthefreneticpaceatwhichsocietyischangingatthegloballevel,itisimperativefortheU.S.toconsiderwhatactionswemusttaketoremainaviableworldpresence.Moreandmore,theAmericanpublicpointstoeducationastheanswer...orpartoftheproblem.TheTrendsinInternationalMathandScienceStudy(TIMSS)hass

5、hownAmericanstudentstobequiteaverageamongtheparticipatingnations.ThegapbetweentechnologyandeducationcontinuestowideninAmerica(Moore’sLawisasoberingreminderofjusthowgreatthedisparityis)because,asanationofeducators,wearenotadaptingtochangesinsociety.Perhapstheaddedscrutinyoneducationi

6、ntheendwillhelpcreatethesparkthatignitesarenaissanceforAmerica–justasitdidoveracenturyagowhentheU.S.wasbeginningitsmarchtoworldprominence.thLookingbacktothelate19century,Americawasemergingfromanagrariansociety.Therurallandscapewashometoalargeportionofthepopulation–avastmajorityofwho

7、mwereself-employedorworkedinsmallcompaniesoronfarms.WhentheIndustrialRevolutionhitandfactoriesbecametheeconomicfocusofthecountry,workersflockedtourbancenterstoseekemployment.Itwasapparentthatmoreleaderswererequiredtokeeppacewiththechangingclimateofbusiness,urbaninfrastructure,andcul
