3、ndindeed,allradicalpoliticalprojects.Theattractionsofpoststructuralisttheorizingformanyfeministshasbeenitsdecisivebreakwithlogocentrism.However,fromthe1980sonwards,feministswerepointingtotheproblemspoststructuralismpresentedintheorizingthenatureofagency.InthispaperIwillarguethatweshouldadoptadiffe
4、renttheoreticalstartingpoint.DrawingheavilyontheworkofMargaretArcher,Iwillarguethatcriticalrealismhasmuchtooffertheoriesofpoliticalaction.Whileacknowledgingtheenormouscontributionoffeministscholarsworkingwithinapoststructuralistparadigm,Iwillarguethattheepistemologicalandontologicalassumptionsatth
5、eheartofpoststructuralisttheoryrenderitincapableofprovidingaframeworkforwhatArchercallstheenchantmentofbeinghuman.Thisenchantment,andtherichresourcesofaconceptualizationofagencybasedontheprimacyofpractice,providesastrongerbasisfortheorizingfeministresearch,practiceandbeing.IntroductionThethemesIwi
6、shtoaddressinthispaperwereraisedintheaccountofthediscussionoftheproblematizationofagencywhichtookplaceundertheauspicesoftheLondonFeministSalonCollective(2004).Thepaperrepresents,therefore,abelatedresponsetotheirinvitationtodialogue.Thecentralthemesoftheirdiscussionaboutpoststructuralism,1selfhood,
