2、inmanynetworksarenotmerelybinaryentities,eitherpresentornot,buthaveassociatedweightsthatrecordtheirstrengthsrelativetooneanother.Recentstudiesofnetworkshave,byandlarge,steeredclearofsuchweightednetworks,whichareoftenperceivedasbeinghardertoanalyzethantheirunweightedcounterparts.Herewepointoutthat
3、weightednetworkscaninmanycasesbeanalyzedusingasimplemappingfromaweightednetworktoanunweightedmultigraph,allowingustoapplystandardtech-niquesforunweightedgraphstoweightedonesaswell.Wegiveanumberofexamplesofthemethod,includinganalgorithmfordetectingcommunitystructureinweightednetworksandasimpleproo
