3、andeffectiveparticipationinsocietyonanprogresses,2andmaybeconsideredtoequalbasiswithothers”(Article1)haveadisabilitywhensocial,economic,politicalorotherbarriershindertheirfullTheConventiondoesnotexplicitlyrefertoandeffectiveparticipationinsocietyonanHIVorAIDSinthedefinitionofdisability.However,
4、Statesarerequiredtorecognizethatequalbasiswithothers.wherepersonslivingwithHIV(asymptomaticThisPolicyBriefdiscussestheactionsorsymptomatic)haveimpairmentswhich,inneededtoincreasetheparticipationinteractionwiththeenvironment,resultsinofpersonswithdisabilitiesintheHIVstigma,discriminationorotherb
5、arrierstotheirresponseandensuretheyhaveaccesstoparticipation,theycanfallundertheprotectionHIVserviceswhicharebothtailoredoftheConvention.totheirdiverseneedsandequaltoStatespartiestotheConventionarerequiredtheservicesavailabletoothersinthetoensurethatnationallegislationcomplieswithcommunity.Thes
6、eactions,definedthisunderstandingofdisability.SomecountrieshaveaccordedprotectiontopeoplelivingwithinconsultationwithabroadrangeofHIVundernationaldisabilitylegislation.OtherstakeholdersincludingpeoplelivingwithcountrieshaveadoptedantidiscriminationlawsHIVandpersonswithdisabilities,areinthateith
