4、icine,"reflectingadissatisfactionwithregularmedicineaswellasaculturalrebellionagainstthebiomedicalcommunity.Inmorerecentyears,severalstudiesindicatethattherehasbeenashiftfrom"alternative"therapiesto"complementary"therapies,adoptednotinoppositiontoregularmedicinebutinalliancewithit.Andincreasing
5、lythosewhouseoneofthemanyformsofcomplementarymedicinearenottreatingaspecificmedicalproblem.Rather,theyarepracticingpreventioninwaystheyfindmorecongruentwiththeirphilosophicalvaluesorlifestyle.NowIthinkwemaybeseeinganotherrefinement,onethatistakingusfrom"complementary"to"safeandeffective."Forsom
