4、tionofantibodyandusefulinsero-epidemiologiestudies.1.IntroductionMembersofanewlyrecognizedgroupofviruses,thecoronaviruses(1),includeavianinfectiousbronchitisvirus(IBV),themousehepatitisvirus(MHV)group,andanumberofvirusstrainsrecentlyisolatedfromtheupperrespiratorytractofman(9
5、,I1).Allmembersofthecoronavirusgroupsharecertainbasiccharac-teristicswhichinclude:apleomorphieparticleranginginsizefrom76--250m~withcharacteristicclub-shapedsurfaceprojections,sensitivitytolipidsolventsandheat,andaribonucleicacidcontent(1,9,11).I-I~TLEYetal.(7)reportedthepres
