4、torycorona-virus(PRCV)-infectedconventionalpigswiththecorticosteroiddexamethasone(DEX)asamodelforSARS.InnateandTh1cytokinesinbronchoalveolarlavage(BAL)andserumwereelevatedinPRCV-infectedpigscomparedtocontrols,butweredecreasedafterDEXtreatmentinthePRC
5、V-infected,DEX-treated(PRCV/DEX)pigs.AlthoughdecreasedinBAL,Th2cytokinelevelswerehigherinserumafterDEXtreatment.Levelsoftheproin?ammatorycytokineinterleukin-6inBALandserumweredecreasedinPRCV/DEXpigsearlybutincreasedlatercomparedtothoseinphosphate-buf

8、alimmuno-suppressionofimmuneresponsesinlungandsystemicTh1cytokine-biasedsuppression.Thesevereacuterespiratorysyndrome(SARS)globalepi-naryviralspread,leadingtothemultiorganfailureseenindemicin2003to2004wascausedbyanewlyemergedSARSsomeSARSpatients(17).
