2、risefromtrafficmovementsinwarehouses.IntroductionManagingwarehousetrafficisanimportantpartofensuringtheworkplaceiswithoutriskstohealthandsafety.Vehiclesincludingpoweredmobileplantmovinginandaroundaworkplace,reversing,loadingandunloadingarefrequentlylinkedwithdeathandinjuriestoworkersa
3、ndmembersofthepublic.Trafficincludescars,deliverytrucks,poweredmobileplantlikeforkliftsandpedestrianslikeworkersandvisitors.Atawarehousegoodsarereceivedandstoreduntiltheyarerequiredandthenpreparedfortransportation.Activitiesinclude:·receivingandunloadinggoodsfrommanufacturers,importer
4、sandsuppliers·transferringgoodsontopalletsforstorage·storinggoodsinappropriateconditionse.g.freezers,coldareas,silosorracking·respondingtocustomerordersbypickingproductsfromwarehouseshelvesandpreparingthemfortransportatione.g.placingthemonpalletsorwrappingthem,and·loadingordersontoveh
5、iclesfortransporttothecustomer.Themosteffectivewaytoprotectpedestriansistoeliminatetraffichazards.Thiscanbedonebydesigningthelayoutoftheworkplacetoeliminateinteractionsbetweenpedestriansandvehicles.Examplesincludeprohibitingvehiclesfrombeingusedinpedestrianspacesorprovidingseparatetra
