3、comeextinctisthroughdecreasedimmunocompetenceandhighersusceptibilitytoparasites.Here,weinvestigatetherelationshipbetweenimmunityandinbreedinginbumblebees,usingHebrideanislandpopulationsofBombusmuscorum.Wesampledninepopulationsandrecordedparasiteprevalenceandmeasuredtwoaspectsofimmunity:theencapsulat
4、ionresponseandlevelsofphenoloxidase(PO).WefoundthatprevalenceofthegutparasiteCrithidiabombiwashigherinpopulationswithlowergeneticdiversity.Neithermeasureofimmuneactivitywascorrelatedwithgeneticdiversity.However,levelsofPOdeclinedwithageandwerealsonegativelycorrelatedwithparasiteabundance.Ourresultss
