2、munication.Fromthedayitcameintoexistence,euphemismhasbeenfunctioningtolubricateourcommunication,helpestablishagoodrelationshipbetweenhumanbeingsandevenstrengthensocialstability.Manylinguistsandscholarshavestudiedthislinguisticphenomenonfromtheperspectivesofrhetoric,semantics
3、,pragmaticsandsociolinguists.Asaresult,achievementsinthestudyofeuphemismhavebeenconspicuous.Thus,onthebasisofothers’researches,thisthesisattemptstodoananalysisofpragmaticfunctionsofEnglishandChineseeuphemismsbycomparativelyanalyzingtheirlinguisticandculturalcharacteristics.K
