2、ognitivemodelhasastrongexplanatorypowertoexplainthecoherenceofgrammaticalstructureformation.Besides,idealizedcognitivemodeltheory,throughitsimplicationinthedeepstructurecanbeappliedtothecollegeEnglishreadingteachingwhichgivesanamendmenttothetraditionalreadingteachingtostressthecoherence

5、atICMactuallyis. ICMreferstoacomprehensivecognitivestructure,orgestalt,thatinvolvesbackgroundknowledgeinvariousrelevantcognitivedomainsandreflectspeople’sexperiential,unifiedandidealizedunderstandingaboutcertaindomains.LakoffmaintainsthatICMisthebasicwayforourknowledgeconstruction.Itsa
6、pproachtothehumancategorizationhasbeenwidelyaccepted.Butfurtherresearchisstillneededtoexplorethepotentialsignificanceofthisapproach.Thereareafewpapersinprofessionaljournalsorsomeanalysisonthetheoreticalintroduction.However,ICMisstillrarelyusedinthelarge-scalestudyofdiscourse. 1.Interpr
