3、ofageofkidsfrombothgendersofnondescriptgoats.Fiftynine(59)nondescriptkidswereweighedweeklyattheuniversityofMaidugurilivestockteachingandresearchfarm,Nigeriaandtheliveweightsweremodeled.BiologicallyrelevantvariableswereestimatedforeachkidfromtheLogistic,Gompe
4、rtz,Richards,Mono-molecularandWeibullmodels.Modelswerecomparedusingthefollowinggoodnessoffitcriteria:coeffi-2cientofdetermination(R),meansquareerror(MSE),standarddeviation(SD)andAkaikeinformation2criteria(AIC).Inbothgenders,allnonlinearmodelsfittedthedatawel
5、l,withhighRrangingfrom0.911to0.943and0.923to0.95formaleandfemale,respectively.Inaddition,themaleshadhigherasymptoticweightthanfemaleswhilethereversewasobservedwithregardstomaturingrate.Malekidshadheavierinflexionweightandhigheragethanfemalesforallthemodels.T
6、hesevalueswerehoweverhigherforLo-2gisticthanGompertzmodel.ThemonomolecularmodelhadhigherRandlowerMSE,SDandAICinbothmaleandfemalekids.Itcanbeconcludedthatthenonlineargrowthmodelsweresuitableforestimatingliveweightasafunctionofageforbothmaleandfemaleofnondescr
