5、odinrestingbats,whichisamongthehighestvalueseverrecordedinmammalsfedsugarquantitiessimilartotheirnaturaldiet.Duringnormalfeeding,bloodglucosevaluesdecreasedwithincreasing?ighttime,butonlyfelltoexpectedvalueswhenbatsspent75percentoftheirtimeairborne.Eithernectar-feedingbatsh
6、aveevolvedmechanismstoavoidnegativehealtheffectsofhyperglycaemia,orhighactivityiskeytobalancingbloodglucoselevelsduringforaging.Wesuggestthatthecoevolutionaryspecializationofbatstowardsanectardietwassupportedbythehighactivityandelevatedmetabolicratesofthesebats.Highactivity
