4、luteQCacceptancecriteriaforpurposesoflaboratoryaccreditation.1.0SCOPEANDAPPLICATION1.1Thismethodmaybeusedtoscreensoilsamplestodeterminethetotalamountofrecoverablepetroleumhydrocarboncontaminationinsoilincludingawiderangeoffuels,oils,andgreases.Theturbidimetricapproa
5、chinthismethodisdesignedtoquicklyscreensoilsamplesusingasystemcalibratedwithablankandasinglecalibrationstandard.1.2ThedefinitionoftotalrecoverablepetroleumhydrocarbonsforthismethodcanbefoundinSec.3.0.1.3Thisscreeningtechniqueisspecificallydesignedtobeusedinthefieldb
6、utmayalsohavesomescreeningapplicationsinthelaboratory.Thesystemanalysisrangeis10-2000ppmformosthydrocarbons.1.4Thismethodisconsideredascreeningtechniquebecauseofthebroadspectrumofhydrocarbonsitdetects.Themethodmaybeespeciallyusefulinquicklydeterminingthatasitedoesno
7、tcontainhydrocarboncontamination.However,itcannotbeusedtodeterminespecifichydrocarboncompoundsorgroupsofcompoundsthatmaybepartofalargerhydrocarbonmixture.Aswithotherscreeningtechniques,itisadvisabletoconfirmacertainpercentageofbothpositiveandnegativetestresults,espe
