3、ienti?cinterest.Tostartgaininginformationaboutbat-transmittedvirusesinHungary,wetestedmultiplebatspeciesforseveralvirusgroupsbetween2012and2013.MaterialsandMethods:FecalsampleswerecollectedfrombatsacrossHungary.Weperformedgroup-speci?cRT-PCRscreeningfora
4、stro-,calici-,corona-,lyssa-,othoreo-,paramyxo-,androtaviruses.Positivesampleswereselectedandsequencedforfurtherphylogeneticanalyses.Results:Atotalof447fecalsamples,representing24Europeanbatspeciesweretested.Novelstrainsofastroviruses,coronaviruses,andca
5、licivirusesweredetectedandanalyzedphylogenetically.Outofthe447testedsamples,40(9%)batswerepositiveforatleastonevirus.Bat-transmittedastroviruses(BtAstV)weredetectedineightspecieswitha6.93%detectionrate(95%con?denceinterval[CI]4.854,9.571).Coronaviruses(B
6、tCoV)weredetectedinsevenbatspecieswithadetectionrateof1.79%(95%CI0.849,3.348),whereasnovelcaliciviruses(BtCalV)weredetectedinthreebatspecieswithadetectionrateof0.67%(95%CI0.189,1.780).Phylogeneticanalysesrevealedagreatdiversityamongastrovirusstrains,wher
7、eastheHungarianBtCoVstrainsclusteredtogetherwithbothalpha-andbetacoronavirusstrainsfromotherEuropeancountries.Oneofthemostintriguing?ndingsofourinvestigationisthediscoveryofnovelBtCalVsinEurope.TheHungarianBtCalVdidnotclusterwithanyofthecalcivirusgenerai
