2、doftheZO-kbgenomeoftheMebusstrainofbovineentericcoronavirus(BCV)wascopiedintocDNAandclonedintothe/JstlsiteofthepUC9vector.Fourclonesfromthe3endofthegenomeweresequencedeithercompletelyorinparttodeterminethesequenceofthefirst2451bases.Withinthissequencewereidentifi
3、ed,inorder,a3-noncodingregionof291bases,thegenefora449-aminoacidnucleocapsidprotein(N)havingamolecularweightof49,379,andthegenefora230-aminoacidmatrixprotein(M)havingamolecularweightof26,376.AthirdlargeopenreadingframeiscontainedentirelywithintheNgenesequencebuti
4、spositionedinadifferentreadingframe;itpotentiallyencodesapolypeptideof207aminoacidshavingamolecularweightof23,057.AhigherdegreeofaminoacidsequencehomologywasfoundbetweentheMproteinsofBCVandMHV(87%)thanbetweentheNproteins(70%).FortheMproteinsofBCVandMHV,notabledif
