3、ingastablelivingformillionsandcreatingthesocialhubsaroundwhichourcommunitiesarebuilt.Throughoutitslonghistory,industryhasprovenitsabilitytoleadchange.AnditmustnowdothesameasEuropeembarksonitstransitiontowardsclimateneutralityanddigitalleadershipinaneve
4、r-changingandevermoreunpredictableworld.Thetwinecologicalanddigitaltransitionswillaffecteverypartofoureconomy,societyandindustry.Theywillrequirenewtechnologies,withinvestmentandinnovationtomatch.Theywillcreatenewproducts,services,marketsandbusinessmode
5、ls.Theywillshapenewtypesofjobsthatdonotyetexistwhichneedskillsthatwedonotyethave.Andtheywillentailashiftfromlinearproductiontoacirculareconomy.Thesetransitionswilltakeplaceinatimeofmovinggeopoliticalplateswhichaffectthenatureofcompetition.TheneedforEur
6、opetoaffirmitsvoice,upholditsvaluesandfightforalevelplayingfieldismoreimportantthanever.ThisisaboutEurope’ssovereignty.Thebreadthanddepth,thescaleandspeed,thenatureandnecessityofthetwintransitionsareunprecedented.ThisisreflectedinPresidentvonderLeyen’s
7、PoliticalGuidelines,theprioritiessetoutbytheEuropeanParliamentandtheEuropeanCouncil’sStrategicAgenda2019-2024.TheEuropeanGreenDeal1andtheCommission’srecentStrategyonShapingEurope’sDigitalFuture2settheambition,speedanddirectionoftravelfortheyearstocome.
8、WenowneedanewindustrialwayforEurope,fitfortheambitionsoftodayandtherealitiesoftomorrow.AttheheartofthisistheabilityofEurope’sindustrytoleadthetwintransitionsanddriveourcompetitiveness.Itcannotaffordtosimplyadapt–itmustnowbecometheaccele
