4、ophecies,andithaslongbeenabigproblemforthescholarsashowtotackletheseelementsduetotheirpeculiarartisticeffects.Manytraditionaltranslationtheorieshavebeenappliedtoaccountforrhetoricaltranslation,butfewofthemcanmakeit,thusrhetoricaldeviceswereoncethoughttobeuntran
5、slatable.Therefore,thisthesistriestomakeacontrastivestudyoftherhetoricaldevicesinJinlingPropheciesinthetwoEnglishversionsfromanewfunctionalistperspective.BythecomparisonoftheversionsbytheYangsandHawkes,itisdiscoveredthatthetranslatorsadopteddifferenttranslation
